Bolingbrook (Ill.) High Top247 cornerback Parrker Westphal went back and forth regarding his college decision for the last month.
Northwestern would have the lead, then he'd start thinking about Vanderbilt.
Westphal finally made up his mind late Thursday evening.
"I did a pro and cons list and both schools tied, and basically I wanted my family to get a chance to see me play, I wanted that opportunity," Westphal said.
After sleeping on it to be sure, the 6-foot, 186-pound Westphal woke up on Friday and called Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald to give him his commitment. He will enroll early at the school.
"I'm going to be a Wildcat," Westphal said. All of his paperwork is in to the school.
Westphal becomes commit No. 14 for Northwestern in the class-of-2014.
"Being able to play for Coach Fitz," Westphal said. "I just felt at home. I had a great relationship with the players. I had a great relationship with the commits and the coaches."
Ranked by the 247Sports Composite ratings as the nation's No. 11 cornerback, Westphal also held offers from the likes of Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Arizona State.
A top recruit for Northwestern in 2014, Westphal spoke often with Fitzgerald down the stretch and his final two visits were to Evanston.
